How to utilize full power of article directories
Almost every marketing guru is screaming his head off, "Write those articles!" And then you come over here and I tell you that writing articles is not the way to success! Whom would you believe? Not me, certainly! Not unless I can actually show you why these article directories don't pay off and just how you can actually make them pay off!
What's wrong with Article Directories?
I'm sure you must have heard a lot about duplicate content and how search engines penalize them. Now lay back and think. If an article is posted on a hundred odd sites, isn't it really duplicate content too? Yes, it is. And search engines will determine which site actually originated the content and which sites merely copied it.
I'm sure you think that since you wrote the article, your site wouldn't be penalized. Unfortunately, it couldn't be further from the truth. As of now, no search engine can accurately determine who is the actual author. Yahoo and MSN seem to do a better job than google, but it's still a huge problem for them.
Let's take an example. I write this article for Learn and Do It and then post it to a couple of article directories. What happens next? Let's say 100 sites post my article. 7 of these sites have a PR of 5+. Who do you think get's more weight for the keywords in my article? Me or one of these seven sites?
As a practical matter, every time I have submitted an article to one of these directories, my own site never even shows up in the results. I actually get penalised for posting duplicate content, even though I am the one that originated this content!
Defeat the duplicate content penalty.
Thankfully, defeating the duplicate penalty isn't at all difficult. All you have to do is never post the article you submit to the link directories on your own site! Or even better, you post an information release about your article on these article directories. Don't forget to end your article with a byline, "For complete article, please visit, blablablac.com! And soon you will see the benefits of article directories without ever being penalized by google for duplicate content!
